NoLED – An amazing app for Android phones without a physical LED (How to add a software LED to your Android phone?)

I got a shiny new Android phone recently and was very happy, until I noticed that my phone did not have a dedicated physical LED to notify me about events that I may have missed.

Being a Nokia user prior to the upgrade, I’ve been really very accustomed to having an LED on the phone to notify me about missed events such as missed calls, unread messages, etc. just by having a glance at the phone to see if the LED is flashing.

All of a sudden I started missing the LED more than I could imagine regardless of the several other things that my new phone offered me that the old one never could. The LED became an all important feature to me.

I was wondering if there was any way I could add a LED to my phone. That is when I came across this amazing app called “NoLED” by madmack yesterday as a result of an app recommendation from AppBrain App Market.

I installed the app immediately and trust me, this nifty little app is a great boon to all users of Android phones such as Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Google Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy S II, etc. to name a few, that lack a dedicated physical LED.

The app adds custom notification icons or dots to the screen to alert about various event notifications such as missed calls, messages, Google Talk, email, calendar events and also supports event notifications from 3rd party apps such as Whatsapp, Live Profile, ebuddy XMS, etc. using a Monitored Apps feature.

The app includes several different settings and customization options for your notifications. You can have audio alerts, vibration alerts and custom colors/icons for each notification type.

For me this is a must have app for Android devices without dedicated physical LED’s. What are you waiting for? Grab NoLED now for free from the Android Market here…
