Changing Your Diet to Lower Triglycerides

When your triglyceride levels are high, you are at risk for heart attacks and other heart diseases. By partaking on a diet to lower triglycerides, you can take an important step on becoming healthier and putting yourself at less risk.
You should try and remove all refined carbohydrates from your diet. This includes sugar, corn syrup and white flour. You should also try and avoid foods which is made from these as well. Since these foods are a major contributor to higher levels, you should make every effort to not eat more then half of your caloric intake based on them.
Change the oils you cook with. By using olive, canola and peanut oils, you can reduce the amount of triglycerides you get in your system since other oils are high in these fats. While oil is not really good for you, substituting these oils, and lowering the amount you use, can have a good effect to your health. Remember to limit the amount of fat calories to no more then 10% of your daily intake.
Add cold water fish to your diet. Omega 3 fatty acids can greatly contribute to your heart and cholesterol health. This is one of the easiest ways to lower triglycerides because many people can easily add fish into their rotation of meals they eat.
Reduce the amount you eat, and make sure you are not getting too many calories. Exercise can also help you keep healthy. Since obesity can contribute to becoming a diabetic, which may be caused by elevated levels of triglycerides, moderate exercise and cutting your calories can greatly benefit you.
By using diet to lower triglycerides, you can help your heart and body stay in good condition. Before you start on any diet, you should speak to a doctor over any concerns and issues you may have.
